Letters to the Editor, September 6, 2025

Dear Sir,

As an expat living in Ajijic, I very much applaud CIBanco’s decision to file a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of the Treasury over allegations that it had facilitated money laundering by the drug cartels, without providing an ounce of proof. Intercam Banco was in a similar position and last week announced that Kapital Bank would acquire a significant portion of its operations. President Sheinbaum had requested proof of their misdeeds, but thus-far none has been forthcoming.

I can only attest to the stellar service that my wife and I have always received from the friendly, helpful people at both Intercam branches here in Ajijic. For bank customers, the past few weeks have been an inconvenience, as once simple transactions like money transfers have been blocked, causing us to seek alternatives. However, we will continue to support Intercam because they deserve it. Moreover, I fervently hope that Intercam will file its own lawsuit against the U.S. government’s flagrant actions and utter disregard for the rule of law.

Adam Gland, Ajijic
