I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the 2026 Lake Chapala Society Children’s Summer Art Camp another wonderful success.
This year, more than 200 children came through our campus for a week filled with art, creativity, learning, friendship and fun. An undertaking of this size does not happen without an extraordinary number of people working together.
To our talented artists and instructors, our dedicated support volunteers, our generous donors and sponsors, our LCS members, and our hardworking staff — thank you. Each of you played an important role in creating a special week for these children and their families.
For me, the Art Camp has always been about more than making art. Over the years, I have watched many young children take part in this program, including children of friends and members of my own extended family. I have seen the concentration on their faces as they work on something entirely their own, and then the smiles and sense of accomplishment when they see what they’ve created.
One of my favorite moments comes at week’s end, when the children display and sell their artwork. There is something special about watching a young person discover that something made with their own hands and imagination has value. They leave proud of their artwork, with a greater understanding of their own creativity and talents.
The Art Camp is a wonderful example of what LCS is all about: People Helping People. It brings together artists, volunteers, donors, members, staff, families and children from throughout our community. Different people contribute in different ways, but together they create something none of us could accomplish alone.
To everyone who donated funds or materials, taught a class, prepared a room, helped a child, cleaned up, organized supplies, handled countless details behind the scenes, or simply offered an encouraging word — you made a difference. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
