Guadalajara-born soccer star Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez is to serve as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Mexico.

Deadly on the pitch and humble off it, the former Chivas striker is a local hero and a role model to kids across Mexico. He was also named an ambassador for tourism in the state of Jalisco last July.
