Athletes warm up for Jocotepec’s panoramic run

Runners with a hankering for a new competitive challenge will have the chance to test their mettle at Jocotepec’s Primera Carrera Panorámica, set for Sunday, October 12, 8:30 a.m..

The 12.6-kilometer route makes a loop from the Jocotepec Malecón, through the center of town, up and over the Libramiento bypass and back to the starting line.

The event is open to 700 competitors, broken up into seven age brackets for men and women ages 15 and up, with a special division just for runners who reside in lakeshore municipalities.

The entry fee remains at 130 pesos through October 10, jumping to 150 pesos for last minute sign-ups, if available. The cost includes an official runner’s number, a commemorative tee-shirt, a supply of hydration liquids during and after the race, and a medal for finishing the course.

A prize purse totaling 53,000 pesos will be split up among contestants scoring the five overall best times, and first through third place in each age bracket. Special cash awards are also side aside for the three top runners from lakeside.
