Top-ranked Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s planned December 6 fight against Joshua Clottey in Houston was canceled Monday so that the Guadalajara-born boxer can fix an ongoing ankle injury.  

The fight was to be Alvarez’s return to the HBO network.

The talk has now switched to a potential Alvarez match up with legendary WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto in May 2015.
