Chapala’s soccer team Charales made history this year, bringing home a giant trophy as the under-20 third division champions of Group X zone. Losing 4-3 in a May 27 playoff match against Group 9 winners Mineros de Fresnillo (Zacatecas), Charales narrowly missed out on advancing to the national quarterfinals.

Team captain Kevin Cano Basulto and seven other star players expect to be picked up by other teams next season to compete in the next age level.
