Fans turn out to welcome new basketball franchise

The debute of the Astros de Jalisco made the perfect start to life in the National Professional Basketball League (LNBP) with a 77-73 victory in their home opener against the Aguacateros de Michoacan September 19.

Although the Guadalajara-based team didn’t manage to fill the Polideportivo Ávila Camacho, a good sized and noisy crowd cheered on the new franchise.

The following evening, the Astros again faced the Aguacateros, this time loosing 83-90.

September 26 and 28 see the Astros take the court in Mexico City to face the Capitanes, the LMBP runners up last season.

The next home games for the Astros are Tuesday, October 1 and Wednesday, October 2, 8 p.m. (vs. Abejas de Leon); Thursday, October 10, 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 13, 3 p.m. (vs. Libertadores de Queretero). See boletomovil.com for tickets.
