Soccer, tennis, baseball eager to welcome back fans

Sports fans in Jalisco will have the opportunity to head back to stadiums and watch their favorite teams and stars in action, under the relaxed Covid-19 mitigation policy recently announced by the Jalisco state government.

pg7aJalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro has given the green light for all sporting events to resume, without special permission, as long as there are no more than 50 spectators present. This capacity will gradually increase as organizers of events demonstrate they have fulfilled all the necessary safety measures.

One of the first events to  welcome back spectators is the Copa Jalisco, the large amateur soccer tournament featuring teams from all 125 municipalities of the state. In normal times, these games attract crowds of passionate family members, who throng the touch lines of pitches across the state to cheer on the players.

Professional sports teams that want fans back in stadiums will have to obtain a special permit from the state government for gatherings above 300.
