After a stuttering start to the season, Guadalajara’s Formula One (F1) driver Sergio “Checo” Perez completed a second career victory in a dramatic Azerbaijan Grand Prix held Sunday, June 6, in Baku.
The win moved Perez up to third place in the F1 driver’s championship table, on 69 points behind leader and Red Bull teammate Jan Verstappen (105 points) and current world champion Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes (101 points). Neither of the two early season title protagonists managed to score any points in the race, which follows a tough course through the historic streets of the Azerbaijan capital.
