At the age of 58, Mexican boxing great Julio César Chávez will step in to the ring – probably for the last time – Saturday, June 19, for an exhibition fight at Guadalajara’s Estadio Jalisco.
In the “Tribute to the Kings” event, Chávez will face Puerto Rican Héctor Camacho Jr., 42, the son of Héctor Luís “Macho” Camacho, one of the Mexican champion’s most formidable rivals.
Chávez, whose career spanned from 1985 to 2005, was a multiple-time world champion in three weight divisions and is ranked the 17th best boxer of all time by BoxRec.
In total, 14 fights are on Saturday’s bill, which starts at 4 p.m. Tickets at boletomovil.com.
