Bears’ much-traveled US hoopsters happy with life
The Osos de Guadalajara may have made an inauspicious start to their life in Mexico’s professional basketball league (1-6) but their American imports are feeling right at home, if somewhat frustrated by the poor results.

Guadalajara native Sergio “Checo” Perez equaled his career-best finish in Formula One on Sunday, coming second in the Italian Grand Prix.
The Osos (Bears) de Jaliaco, Guadalajara’s new basketball franchise, played their first home game Thursday, loosing heavily to 2011/12 champions Xalapa Falcons 76-110 at the Code Dome.
The much-awaited return of professional basketball to Guadalajara contained all the mandatory ingredients: former NBA stars, animated cheerleaders, a lively crowd and thumping music.
Far too much time has passed for a city the size of Guadalajara to be without a competitive professional basketball team, playing in a decent arena in front of a passionate crowd.
Jalisco proudly provided 16 of the Mexican delegation’s 81 athletes who took part in the Paralympic Games opening ceremony in London on Wednesday.
