On Saturday, September 13, hometown boxing superstar Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez will arguably face the defining fight of his career. And even if you’re skeptical about the hype surrounding this Netflix-sponsored mega-event, there’s no question it has all the ingredients of an epic showdown and thrilling spectacle.

After taking a commanding 3-0 series lead in the first round of the Mexican Baseball League playoffs against the Sultanes de Monterrey, the Charros de Jalisco had to wait until Game 7 on August 17 to secure a 4-3 series win.

After more than half a century, the Charros de Jalisco are back in the Grand Final of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB), also known as the “King’s Series” (Serie del Rey). This marks only the second season for the current Charros franchise in Mexico’s premier league. The team was LMB champions in 1967 and 1971.

Fans of the Guadalajara-based Astros de Jalisco are upbeat at the team’s strong start in the National Professional Basketball League (LNBP).

The Guadalajara Open Akron, a WTA 500 event, will take place from September 8 to 14, at the Panamerican Tennis Center in Zapopan, starting just two days after the U.S. Open women’s final.

The Charros de Jalisco have made it into the Mexican Baseball League playoffs, despite finishing sixth in the Northern Division. 

Local sporting luminary, Sergio “Checo” Perez, is set to return to the Formula One grid next year with the new Cadillac team, after sitting out the 2025 season.

The most anticipated boxing match of 2025, between Guadalajara superstar Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and U.S. challenger Terence Crawford, now has a confirmed venue: Las Vegas, on Saturday, September 13.
