Life lessons from a chess board

“What’s your next move?” That is the life lesson being learned by the boys and girls who participate in the HuaraChess Club.

pg13aObviously in chess, giving much thought and consideration to how you play the game, being efficient in your moves and trying to outwit your opponent is the way to succeed.

And those same techniques are a great lesson for looking at your life. Are you thinking through the big decisions? Are you working smarter and not harder? Are you surrounding yourself with people who challenge you and with whom you respect and learn from. What’s your next move? It is a tool we could all benefit from incorporating into our own lives.

The HuaraChess Club is the brainchild of Roy Quiriconi and Roberto Serrano. Quiriconi has started a chess club for kids in every community where he and his wife Suzie have lived. In Serrano, he found the perfect accomplice to create something special for children at Lakeside.
