Governor promises ‘new way’ of politics in inaugural address

Pablo Lemus Navarro officially assumed the role of Jalisco governor on December 6, marking the beginning of a new administration he says will be focused on security, infrastructure and dialogue.

pg3aIn his inaugural address at the Cabañas Institute, Lemus outlined his vision for the state, emphasizing a collaborative approach and promising advances across various sectors.

Lemus pledged to adopt a “new way of politics,” centered on conciliation rather than confrontation. He expressed a commitment to working closely with the federal government but asserted that this cooperation would not come at the cost of the state’s autonomy.

Acknowledging security as the most pressing concern for Jalisco, Lemus announced plans to enhance police salaries, provide advanced training and utilize the latest crime-fighting technologies. He also pledged support for the families of missing persons, vowing to tackle the state’s troubling history of disappearances. “We are going to address this historical debt and eradicate disappearances in Jalisco,” he declared.
