Each hour, the students had five minutes to sift through the donations and choose items to use in their robots. The students worked non-stop in small groups over four days.
The winners were Jesús Alejandro Tafoya Díaz, Abraham Moisés Martínez Ruvalcaba and Jorge Eduardo Rodríguez Cabrera, who created a robot that collected trash in a small box and then deposited it in a larger garbage canister. Their robot contained parts from a mouse, monitor, keyboard and modem.
The winners each received a computer as their prize. The Rally Reinicia event was sponsored by the Fundación Televisa and Educación Ambiental y Fomento Ecológico Banamex.
