Roadworks clog metro area

Construction of the third subway line in Guadalajara is causing continuous headaches for residents.  The latest inconvenience will be the dismantling of the pedestrian bridge at the intersection of Avila Camacho and Patria, next to Plaza Patria.

This busy intersection will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. on Friday, July 24 as work crews are sent in to dismantle the bridge. Motorists will be able to follow signposted diversions to get to their destinations.  In a press release, the state government did not state how long it would take to finish the job.

Meanwhile, other  road improvement works that are slowing down traffic in the metropolitan area include the intersection at Lopez Mateos and Mariano Otero by Plaza del Sol and the renovations in the “Bar Zone” on Lopez Cotilla,  west of Chapultepec.

Also, work on extending Line One of the Tren Ligero past the northern Periferico has meant lane closures on the northbound stretch of Calzada Federalismo, approaching the city beltway.
