US fugitive arrested in city after 25 years on lam

Immigration officials in Guadalajara detained a U.S. citizen who was wanted in connection with the kidnap and torture of two women in Portland, Oregon in 1990.

Paul Erven Jackson, 45, was arrested at a hotel in downtown Guadalajara Monday as he was preparing to leave for work, reports said.

He was deported within 24 hours and accompanied by U.S. marshals to Portland to face charges.

Jackson vanished in 1991 after posting bail along with his brother Vance Roberts after both were charged with abducting two prostitutes, keeping them captive at a “dungeon” in their home, raping them and subjecting them to repeated sexual abuse for a week. The women were aged 17 and 20.

In 2006 Roberts turned himself in and was sentenced to 108 years in prison.

In July, Jackson was featured on a segment of “The Hunt” presented by John Walsh on CNN.

A  U.S. Marshal told The Oregonian that a tip following the airing of the program led them to Jackson, who is was reported to have been living in Mexico for at least two years under the name Paul Bennett Hamilton.
