1.3m flu shots sent to Jalisco

The Jalisco Health Department will receive 1.3 million doses of influenza vaccine this year. The vaccine will be administered free of charge at most health clinics throughout the state and will be available from next week.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) in the United States recommends that people get vaccinated against flu soon after the vaccine becomes available. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against the flu, the CDC says. Most seasonal flu activity typically occurs between October and May. Flu activity most commonly peaks between December and February.

CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone six months of age and older.
