Guadalajara chapter of Democrats Abroad braces for busy weekend

pg4aThere is free entrance to the event, with a fabulous door prize of a 1,500-peso restaurant gift certificate, as well as a raffle.  The informal gathering will be refreshed by snacks, music and camaraderie.

The get-together will provide a chance for U.S. citizens to request ballots for the upcoming elections, when all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 34 of 100 seats in the Senate will be contested.

The following day, Sunday, February 25, 2 p.m., Democrats Abroad will show the documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story” (2009) at the American Society (Amsoc).

Produced by Michael Moore, this funny and powerful film examines the impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans (and by default, the rest of the world). With both humor and outrage, the film explores the question: What is the price that America pays for its love of capitalism?  It presents what a more hopeful future could look like.

Attendees can also request ballots to vote in the 2018 elections during this event. A 20-peso donation per person for Amsoc is appreciated, as is a dish to share.

Amsoc is at San Francisco 3333, Colonia Chapalita.
