Rallying for family unity

Around a dozen U.S. citizens, some affiliated with the Guadalajara chapter of Democrats Abroad, staged a small vigil outside the U.S. Consulate General Saturday, June 30, to protest the Trump administration’s family separation policy at the U.S. border.

Ajijic artist Pat Apt designed a stunning poster depicting the misery suffered by young children torn apart from their parents by U.S. immigration enforcers.

More than 80 lakeside residents staged a demonstration on the Ajijic highway Saturday, June 30, replicating similar protests held across the United States in opposition to the Trump administration’s recently implemented policy of separating undocumented Latin American migrants and their children caught crossing the southern border. Scores of passing motorists tooted their horns in approval of the protesters’ cause, while Chapala traffic police and paramedics stood by to ensure their safety.
