An attempted robbery in Zapopan’s Ciudadela Mall (Patria and Moctezuma) resulted in a gun-related death on January 30.
The event transpired around 4 p.m. when armed assailants (known as conejeros in Spanish) tried to rob a man who had just withdrawn a large sum of cash from a bank. Little did the assailants know that the bank customer was accompanied by an armed bodyguard, who immediately opened fire on the criminals. One was injured and managed to flee, while the other died at the site. The bodyguard also sustained injuries as the assailants returned fire.
