State firefighters get pay raise

Jalisco’s brave firefighters are getting a reward for their heroic work over the past few months – one of the busiest forest fire seasons on record.

Governor Enrique Alfaro this week approved a salary hike for the 325 employees of the state’s Protección Civil y Bomberos unit. The lowest rate of pay for an officer will increase from 13,442 (net) to 14,785 pesos a month, while the highest (apart from that of the agency’s general director), for a primer comandante regional, goes up from 25,672 to 26,972 a month.  The salary of Director General Víctor Hugo Roldán remains the same.
