Guadalajara will try to set a new Guinness record by creating the largest ever human breast cancer awareness bow on Saturday, October 19.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which helps to increase attention and support for the early detection and treatment, as well as palliative care of this disease. The attempt will take place at the Minerva glorieta at 4 p.m. To achieve the record, 13,000 volunteers will be required, according to Jalisco Health Department Services Director María del Consuelo Robles Sierra.
Some 27,000 new cases of breast cancer were detected in Mexico in 2018, she noted.
