Group Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP), the operators of the Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta international airports, this week announced a massive redevelopment program at both facilities, with investment to total a whopping 18 billion pesos ($US335 million).
Plans at the Guadalajara airport will see the construction of a second terminal, a 180-room hotel, a commercial zone and a new parking lot, GAP Director General Raúl Revueltas Musalem said.
In tandem with this expansion will be the construction of the airport’s second runway. The federal government recently agreed in principle to purchase land from the Santa Cruz del Valle ejido for around 750 million pesos ($US4 million) to build the runway.
