Two dozen singers from the Jalisco State Choir (Coro del Estado) and accompanying musicians “disguised” as ordinary commuters staged surprise performances February 19 and 24 in wagons along two lines of Guadalajara’s Tren Ligero and in the main station at Avenidas Federalismo and Vallarta.
“It went over so big the first time we did it,” said one singer, “that they asked us to do it again the next Monday so a local TV crew could record it.
“Both times, we got on the train in the late morning, thinking the rush hour would be over, but it was packed, like in Japan, or Mexico City.”
