Hospital San Antonio reports no Covid-19 patients to date

No patients presenting symptoms of the Covid-19 virus have sought consultation at the Hospital San Antonio (HSA) since the pandemic spread to Mexico, according the hospital’s director Jorge Alberto Calderón.

pg7aInterviewed by the Guadalajara Reporter this week via email, Calderón stated that as a first step, persons who suspect they have been infected should call the Jalisco Health Ministry (SSJ) hotline at 33-3823-3220 to report symptoms and seek guidance. They should not go directly to HSA unless they are suffering breathing difficulties.

He noted that the hospital’s isolation unit is equipped with a respirator and that oxygen supplies are available in all other rooms. In severe cases, patients will be channeled to a Guadalajara hospital that operates an intensive care unit.

HSA does not carry out testing for Covid-19, but can refer patients to other private facilities such as the Puerto de Hierro Norte in Guadalajara where tests are available for between 5,000 and 6,000 pesos, according to one report.

Calderón’s advice to concerned lakeside residents: “Remain calm and do not panic. Follow the indications of the state and federal health ministries.”

Hospital San Antonio is located on the Chapala-Ajijic highway, opposite the Chula Vista Golf Club. It is open 24-hours with some bilingual personnel on staff.  Contact by phone at 376-689-0911, email This email address is being protected from spambots.
