A motorized float transports the revered statue of the Virgin of Zapopan though Guadalajara and back to her ancestral home in the Basilica of Zapopan on October 12.
Shepherded by a score of masked police officers, the icon’s annual procession was marked by the absence of spectators, who followed the pleas of local government officials to stay away and not risk Covid-19 contagion.
Many streets leading to the procession route were blocked off to avoid crowds congregating.
