Man buys supermarket’s entire whiskey stock

The Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) was forced to step in after managers at a Soriano supermarket in Guadalajara refused to sell a customer its entire stock of whiskey.

The customer had decided to purchase the entire stock, totaling 2,340 bottles, which were being offered in a “three for the price of two” Buen Fin promotional deal. The client approached Profeco after the store declined to sell him the bottles. The agency ruled that Soriano was in error because it had not advertised a limit on the amount of merchandise that could be purchased in the offer. After the intervention, Soriano agreed to the transaction and the discount.
