New US consul general takes over in Guadalajara

Amy Scanlon has assumed her role as the new United States Consul General in Guadalajara.

pg1dShe replaces Eliza Al-Laham, who concluded her three-year tour of duty earlier this month.

According to a press release, Scanlon’s last posting was as Deputy Minister Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. In her career within the Foreign Service, which she joined in 2001, she has held various positions, including Deputy Counsel for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Greece, Policy Officer and Staff Assistant at the U.S. Embassy in Russia and Policy and Consular Officer at the U.S, Embassy in Mozambique, among others.

The press release said the consul general will “focus on a cooperation agenda to continue the good relationship between Mexico and the United States,”   and “considers continuous dialogue key to continue advancing on issues of economics, education and security.”
