Guadalajara firefighters rescued ten people trapped in an elevator that plunged several floors at the Aránzazu Hotel in downtown Guadalajara last weekend.

Casa Cem, the Guadalajara-based non-profit whose stated goal is to “defend the human right to a healthy environment,” hosts an Eco-Sustainable Bazaar each Saturday evening in a bid to capture the attention of some of the revelers who flock to Guadalajara’s Avenida Chapultepec nightlife corridor at weekends.

The 43rd edition of the Mercado Rosa takes place in the esplanade of the Palcco Arts and Entertainment Complex on Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

Giving a talk at Palcco last week was Carlos “Carlitos” Miguel Páez, a  70-year-old Uruguyan entrepreneur and former rugby player, and one of the 16 survivors of Flight 571, which crashed in the Andes in October 1972.

Pride month kicks off in Guadalajara with the first of two parades on Saturday, June 8: La Marcha del Orgullo.
