Chapala city hall scribbler defaces vintage photos

Chapala Historic Archives Director Rogelio Ochoa is offering a 5,000-peso reward for information leading to the identity of the person or persons responsible for recent damages to the collection of 40 vintage photographs displayed inside in City Hall building.

Famed actress and vaudeville star Maria Conesa “La Gatita Blanca” sprouted a moustache after an anonymous scribbler took a pen to a portrait that hangs in corridor just off the central lobby. The same mischievous hand apparently drew a pair of spectacles on the adjacent image of distinguished entrepreneur Thomas Braniff.

Ochoa also discovered wads of discarded chewing gum stuck on four other photographs and burn marks from an extinguished cigarette one another one.
