Unidentified corpse washes up on Lake Chapala beach

Tourist police officers patrolling the Chapala waterfront on the afternoon of April 22 spotted the body of an unconscious man lying on the stretch of sand below the western leg of the Malecón boardwalk.

Red Cross medics called to the scene were unable to detect any vital signs.

Police Chief Adán Domínguez reports that initial examination of the corpse revealed no indications of physical violence, leading him to presume the man died of natural causes, possibly related to alcoholic addiction. He described the deceased as approximately 35 to 40 years of age, dressed in jeans and a brown jacket. Since no identification documents were found on his person, his name remains unknown.

The body was eventually removed by a forensic team to be stored in the state morgue after undergoing autopsy to determine the cause of death.
