Changing of the guard at Chapala’s Immigration office

Florencia Vega Mendez has been named the new head officer at the Chapala branch of the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM).

A four-year veteran of the immigration agency, she was transferred from regional headquarters in Guadalajara, assuming her new duties at lakeside as of Thursday, April 27.

Vega replaces Guillermina Cortés Sanabria, who has retired from INM service after holding the top Chapala post for nearly a year and a half. The outgoing official bowed out with a farewell message to the expat community expressing, “thanks and admiration for all the people I had the pleasure to serve.”
