Ground-breaking lakeshore activist gains recognition

Centro de Desarrollo Jocotepec (Cedejo) hosted a symposium delving into human sexuality, reproductive rights, gender diversity and female empowerment, held October 6 in Ajijic.

Guest speakers on the panel of Mexican experts included Osmar Matsu Santana, Marcela Martínez Roaro, Andrea Saldaña Rivera and Ilsa Picazo Tripp.

Cedejo founder Silvia Flores (right) takes a bow as Saldaña joins the audience in a round of applause for her leadership in the field. Since 1990 the organization has achieved ground-breaking work in family planning, birth control, health care and sexual education in 23 lakeshore communities.
