Muscle madness is the calling card for the sixth annual Mr. Chapala Body Building Competition, scheduled for Saturday, August 3, from 5 p.m. at Chapala’s Benito Juárez Coliseum, located at the north end of Avenida Madero, between the 7-11 store and the municipal soccer field.
A collateral six-kilometer cross-country trail race will be held earlier that day.
Officially sanctioned by the Jalisco Association of Physical Constructivism and Fitness (FFEJAL), the body building competition encompasses 12 categories for beginner and novice athletes. Trophies and cash prizes are awarded for first to third place in each division, with medals handed out for fourth and fifth place.
Registration for male and female contestants in all categories will be held on the day of the event, 2 to 4 p.m. The entry fee is 200 pesos per person. The cost of admission for spectators is 150 pesos.
The cross-country race will kick off from the coliseum at 8:30 a.m. The competition is divided into three separate age categories (Youth 14-18 years, Open 19-39 years, and Veterans 40 and up) in both men’s and women’s divisions, with an enrollment fee of 100 pesos. Cash prizes are earmarked for the first three places in each field, while all participants will take home commemorative medals.
