Chapala mayor breaks the mold in first annual informe

In a refreshing departure from the usual cut-and-dry format, Chapala Mayor Moisés Anaya Aguilar took over the stage of the Auditorio de la Ribera Saturday, September 14 to deliver his first Informe de Gobierno (state of the municipality report).

pg1bAt the heart of the event was Anaya’s dynamic presentation of government activities undertaken during the first 12 months of his administration. As might be expected, a five-minute introductory video took multiple stabs at the previous administration, underscoring the chaotic management and financial disarray that put the new government at a disadvantage.

Once the screening ended, Anaya rose from his chair and rather than heading to the podium to rattle off a prepared speech, waltzed straight to center stage wired with a head mike to address a full-house audience with off-the-cuff remarks broken into two segments. With a remote control device in hand, he rolled along with images projected on the giant flat screen hanging behind him and a pair of smaller monitors set on the floor facing the opposite way.

A second video played at the midpoint reviewed government accomplishments since last October, loaded with the conventional facts and figures. The information is compiled in a 36-page glossy magazine the mayor handed out to council members and guest dignitaries in attendance, including federal and state legislators, a representative of the judicial branch and Hugo Luna Vázquez, cabinet chief for Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez. Former mayor Javier Degollado was the only council member absent for the occasion.

Copies of the printed report are being distributed by the Chapala press office.  A recording of the Informe session may be viewed in full on the Gobierno de Chapala Facebook site.
