‘376’ prefix now compulsory

Lakeside residents who have experienced problems getting phone calls through to Chapala area landlines are advised that, as of the first of this week, the former area code must be used for dialing up local numbers.

Without including the 376 prefix to make up a complete ten-digit number, the caller will hear a recorded message saying, “el número que usted marcó no existe” (the number you called does not exist).

The dialing formula applies to calls from both cellular and standard phones.
