Police collar bandit suspect

Responding promptly to a report received around midnight Sunday, September 6, Chapala police captured a suspected criminal who was fleeing on foot after presumably attempting a hold-up the Ajijic branch of Farmacias Guadalajara.

Arriving on the scene, officers spotted several individuals running in opposite directions alongside the highway. They pursued and detained a man identified as Samuel “N”, 19, with a home address in Jocotepec. They found him holding a shoulder holster with a fake handgun inside it. In frisking the suspect, they discovered a plastic bag inside his jacket pocket containing 25 packets of a white substance with the appearance of a synthetic amphetamine.

The suspect and the confiscated evidence were turned over to agents of the state Minisiterio Público prosecutor’s office for investigation of committing the pharmacy caper and a series of robberies at other local businesses.
