The Chapala government is gearing up for six straight days of local partying with the 2024 Carnaval calendar of festivities scheduled for February 8 to 13.

The local version of Mardi Gras opens Thursday, February 8 with the traditional burial of bad humor parade along Avenida Madero and Paseo Ramón Corona feeding into the inauguration of Carnaval headquarters at Parque La Cristiania. Night and daytime music and dance events will continue daily through the Martes de Carnaval finale on February 13.

A special feature of this year’s program will be the February 8 premiere of a new video mapping spectacle projected on a 20-meter water screen on the surface of Lake Chapala.
