Ajijic to host Canada-Mexico cultural exchange

Ajijic master artist Efrén González has become a tireless world traveler who shares his talents in painting workshops and explores new techniques by connecting with fellow artists of multiple creative genres.

Last September he was in Tofino on Vancouver Island where he spent time with local wood carvers with whom he spawned the Mexico-Canada cultural exchange that will bring an exciting program of activities to Ajijic next month.

The art and culture festival is scheduled for February 19 to 23 at the Ajijic plaza. Canadian woodcarvers will be showcased as they work daily on turning rough logs into fine pieces of art. Local artists are also invited to join the event by renting exhibit space to show and sell their works throughout the week.

To add Mexican glitz to the bi-national cultural encounter, a series of collateral performance art shows is being programmed for the festival. Fine-tuning of the calendar remains in the works, with a variety of music concerts and folk dance presentations and much more stacked into the busy and colorful lineup. Stay tuned as details are revealed over the next few weeks.
