Lakeside residents interested in studying a foreign language have a variety of program options offered at the Chapala branch of Proulex, a University of Guadalajara (UdeG) corporate affiliate.
Proulex Chapala opened its doors last November on the upper story of the UedG’s temporary Chapala Campus headquarters, located in the heart of downtown at Niños Héroes 69.
Course offerings currently include English, French, German and Mandarin, available at various levels of competency. Spanish for non-native speakers may eventually be added if there is sufficient demand in the community.
Intensive study programs entail five classes per week in two-hour sessions, with each level completed in about one month. Semi-intensive classes are scheduled twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, spanning two and a half months per level. Weekly classes on Saturdays run for five hours, to finish each level in two months.
Admission exams are applied to determine the appropriate level for new students entering intermediate and advanced courses.
Registration for admission is free of charge. Course fees include the corresponding student workbooks. Some discounts are being offered during January.
