Chapala lights up Mágica Navidad

The Chapala government kicked off its Christmas Magic at the Lake program on Tuesday, December 10, with an evening of festivities centered at the holiday forum on the median strip opposite City Hall.

The celebration began with a holiday parade along Avenida Madero, followed by ballet folklórico performances and musical entertainment for the gathered spectators. Mayor Alejandro Aguirre and his family were present to inaugurate the Santa Claus Village and light up a towering Christmas tree. The evening concluded with fireworks and an artificial snowfall launched from the Presidencia rooftop.

Friday, December 13: A cultural program featuring participants from the Escuela de Iniciación Artística and a children’s opera performance of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Starts at 6 p.m. at Zalate de Felisa on the Malecón.

Sunday, December 15: Holiday-themed aerial dance show by Fenix de Gala at 7 p.m. at the Centro Cultural Antigua Presidencia (CCAP, former town hall); Night of Glory in Bethlehem, a traditional Pastorela (Shepherd’s Play) presented by the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara theater troupe at 7 p.m. in the Chapala plaza.

Thursday, December 19: Christmas Voices performed by Coro EARA at 7 p.m. at CCAP.

Saturday, December 21: Ori Varua The Here performance of Polynesian dances at 6 p.m. in the Chapala plaza.

Sunday, December 22: Ballet Ixtlacateotl folk dance performance at 6 p.m. in the Chapala plaza.
