More bank notes on the horizon

Banxico, Mexico’s central bank, reports that a new 200-peso bill, featuring independence heroes Miguel Hidalgo and José María Morelos on one side and the El Pinacate desert biosphere reserve on the back, will be issued in 2019.

And in 2020, a new 1,000-peso note will honor the Mexican Revolution, featuring images of Francisco I. Madero, Carmen Serdán and Hermila Galindo.  Planned for the reverse side is a depiction of Campeche’s Calakmul Biosphere Reserve.

There are also discussions taking place about introducing a 2,000-peso bill, featuring the images of esteemed writers Octavio Paz and Rosario Castellanos.
