Job losses fall in June

While job losses in Mexico decreased significantly in June, the overall balance during the Covid-19 pandemic has been disastrous for the economy, the latest statistics indicate.

Job losses in the formal economy totaled 83,311 last month, according to data released last Sunday by the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS). This is down significantly from the 344,526 jobs lost in May, 555,247 in April and 130,593 in March.

Jobs lost in the four months of the epidemic total 1.113 million, the IMSS says.
