Junk food law for kids proposed

Jalisco legislator Mara Robles is promoting a bill to regulate the sale of junk food to minors.

pg6bHer move follows similar legislation in the state of Oaxaca that prohibits sales of “unhealthy” food to children.

In addition, Robles said measures should be taken to encourage people to consume more fresh and natural food rather than the processed and industrialized products that predominate in the marketplace.

Robles also wants nutrition to be an obligatory subject for students of all educational levels, and physical activities to be encouraged in all sector of life, even to the point that employees are given half an hour off their working day for exercise purposes.
