Chinese vaccines will play an important role in Mexico´s Covid-19 inoculation program

Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said Tuesday that several million doses of China’s CanSino Biologics vaccine which are being packaged at the Drugmex pharmaceutical company in the state of Queretero, will be ready for distribution throughout the country by the end of March.

The first shipment of the active agent of the vaccine arrived in February.

According to Chinese news agencies, 35 million doses of the CanSino vaccine will be produced in Mexico in 2021. This includes seven million doses between March and June.

CanSino had announced that the vaccine should be ready by mid March, but Ebrard was more cautious, emphasizing the importance of quality control. “We have to guarantee that (the vaccine) is stable, sterile, there is an adequate dosage per vial and that it is 100-percent safe,” he said.
