Sharon St. John Mercik, 82, died peacefully in her home in Ajijic on the evening of July 24.
Her beloved husband of 25 years, Frank Mercik, and her two grandchildren, Camila, 12, and Sulem, 17, were at her side.
A widely admired and gifted psychotherapist, Sharon devoted her life to helping others.
Known for her warmth, compassion, and the trust she inspired in everyone she met, she had a special ability to bring hope and encouragement to those facing life’s challenges, especially young women struggling with eating disorders, including anorexia and bulimia.
Sharon adored Mexico and its loving, accepting people and wonderful, supportive neighbors.
She is survived by her brothers, Pat St. John (and his wife, Nita, of Innisfail, Canada) and Skip Bliss (and his wife, Penny, of Calgary, Canada); her nieces, Brianna St. John and Bethany St. John; her nephews, Kyle, Cole, Ben and Brian St. John; her great-nephews, Blake, Ryan, Silas, and Leif; her great-nieces, Elin, Annalise and Szor; and her granddaughter, Madison.
