Denouncing electoral foul play

Mexican elections are nowadays carried out in a far more honest manner than has often been the case in the past.

Nonetheless, authorities are aware that unscrupulous individuals may try to influence proceedings.

For this reason the federal Attorney General’s Office (PGR) has set up 116 booths around the country where citizens can file complaints of electoral irregularities.   Operated by the Fiscalia Especializada para la Atencion de Delitos Electorales (Special Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes or Fepade), a division of the PGR, the booths are each staffed by three officials.

The one seen in the photo to the left is located outside the Degollado Theater in the Guadalajara city center.

Complaints may also be filed at 01-800-833-7233 or online at www.pgr.gob.mx/fepade/predef.
