Ocotlan to get 3-million-dollar park

The Lake Chapala town of Ocotlan will soon have a new ecological park, complete with a medieval castle.

To be known as the Parque Ecologico Metropolitano La Eucalera, the park will also have its own zoo, performance space,  and exercise, extreme sports, play and picnic areas.

The federal government will contribute almost half of the 40-million-peso (3.25 million dollars) cost of the park, with the rest coming from state and municipal coffers.

The park will be “100 percent for the family,” say town officials, who plan to charge an “affordable” entry fee.

Ocotlan lies on Lake Chapala’s north shore, some 20 miles west of Chapala.
