Taquiza draws attention to food waste

A massive give-away of tacos in Guadalajara’s Parque Revolucion managed to bring in more than 800 kilograms of food for the Jalisco Family Development Agency (DIF) to distribute to needy families.

Anyone who donated a minimum of two kilos of food to the drive was entitled to free tacos.

As well as celebrating the social welfare institution’s 50th anniversary, the taquiza – prepared by Taqueria Sahuaro – raised awareness about the huge problem of food waste.  The Guadalajara taco chain handed out 20,000 tacos to 4,000 people that were sliced from 520 kilos of carne de pastor.
